Make Money Blogging

I wasn’t surprised — but I was disappointed to hear that BitPass is going out of business.

Why wasn’t I surprised?

Because I think BitPass made a couple of key errors in their business.

1. Their customer service sucked: On one occasion while attempting to resolve a payment problem with their accountant, she hung up on me! Talk about a major fuck up.

Podcasting has really exploded my lovability factor.  It has attracted hundreds of new subscribers.

The problem?

Hosting can be expensive for many people.

Here is a solution courtesy of Lynn Terry…

This quote makes me chuckle…

The addition of images next to Google Adsense ads is generally known will increase click through rate (CTR) and Tips.com.my adds up a new way to increase CTR – Video next to AdSense ads!

I say BULLSHIT.

By now you should have all read about the famous “Golden Triangle”. The top/left/above-the fold portion of your web pages and blog entries that attracts the most eyeballs. Of course, Brad Fallon and his SEO partner stressed that in the free videos for StomperNet.

Ok, so you got that.

Jason Calacanis has just earned his blog police badge with this whiny post…

The currency of blogging is authenticity and trust… you pay folks to blog about a product and you compromise that. I would almost care about this, but it’s so obvious to everyone that this is either a joke or an idiot that there is nothing more to say.

Funny. Jason’s memory isn’t very long. When he created Weblogs Inc. a number of the anti-capitalists within the blogging community raised an uproar. The anti-capitalists think that blogging and money should be kept separate like church in state.

Are you paying attention?

I doubt you are.

His blog entry was carefully crafted. It was designed to create a frenzy. Once blood is in the water, the biting starts.

One comment usually turns into one hundred, and that was the case when John Reese started his new blog.

It appears that the same guys who lead all the lemmings to the dot com bust are still out there…

How much is your website worth? That’s not an easy question to answer, but one way to measure the value is to look at the metrics of sites that have already been sold.

What a joke.

Sports blogs and Sports Blog Inc. have taken off.

Markos Moulitsas Zuniga, the founder of the left-leaning political blog Daily Kos realized in 2005 that capitalism wasn’t as evil as he originally thought and created Sports Blog Inc. (Isn’t it amazing how liberals switch sides when they realize that ‘greed is good’ and that the gov’t takes too much?)

I have talked about sports blogs before but I have decided to create a new category (Sports Blogs) here and watch it a bit more closely. It seems to be a very lucrative niche — one that I may be exploring in the future.

I stumbled on this over at Brad Fallon’s blog…

PayPerPost is a site where advertisers and bloggers can get together and help each other get paid. Advertisers set the price they will pay per post, and the topic and requirements. Bloggers can log on and find the topics that interest them, write a post that meets the requirements and get paid. Easy as pie.

Good idea.

I ran across a service called TalkShoe that allows you to both host your podcasts and make money in the process.

My advice?

Syndicate your podcasts in multiple places.
